Our Journey

Historical Development

From humble beginnings to an award-winning cooperative

1985

Conceptualization and Birth — Founded on April 8, 1985 at the Sangkabalayan Building, Baguio Cathedral Compound, as part of the CRS-assisted Nutrition Program of the Vicariate of Mt. Provinces. Elizabeth N. Mamanglo and Teresita Alipit introduced cooperative ventures from a seed capital of PhP 5,000.

1990

Registered as MOFAMCO — Renamed to Mothers and Family Multipurpose Cooperative. The cooperative reached its first million in assets from the initial PhP 5,000 — despite the devastating earthquake of July 1990.

1991

CDA Registration — Registered with the Cooperative Development Authority on November 14, 1991 (DAG-1460, Dagupan City, Pangasinan).

1992

National Recognition — Received plaque of recognition from CRS Manila Office for being the First to Initiate a Cooperative Project in the CRS Philippine Program.

1995

Bayaning Pilipino Award — Celebrated 10th anniversary with over six million in assets. Won the prestigious Bayaning Pilipino Award (Institutional Category) from ABS-CBN Network and Ugat Foundation. Also received recognitions from DTI and CRS Philippines.

1997

Permanent Home — Moved to a permanent office at the City Market, made possible by MISERIOR, Germany and the coop itself, after 14 years at the Baguio Cathedral compound.

2007-2008

No. 1 Model Women Cooperative — Recognized as the No. 1 Model Women Cooperative in CAR from CARCDC and CDA, two years in a row. Also awarded 2nd Runner Up Most Outstanding Cooperative in Baguio City.

2010

Silver Jubilee — MOFAMCO celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking 25 years of service to the community.

2017

Hall of Fame — Received the Best Performing Century Cooperative in Baguio City and the Hall Famer Award from CDA-CAR and the City of Baguio.

2020

COVID-19 Bayanihan — Received the Gawad Parangal KOOP Bayanihan Effort during the COVID-19 Pandemic from CDA-CAR and the City of Baguio.

2021-2023

Continued Excellence — Consistently received Best Performing Cooperative awards under the Large Category for Net Worth, Paid-Up Capital, Total Asset, Income Generation, and highest increases in key financial indicators.

Membership Information

Qualifications
  • A Filipino citizen, physically and mentally fit
  • 18 to exactly 65.5 years of age and of good moral character
  • Has a viable source of livelihood and income
  • Not dismissed from other coops or lending institutions
  • Has no pending criminal case
  • Willing to comply with rules and regulations of MOFAMCO
  • Overseas Filipinos who are former residents of areas covered by MOFAMCO
Requirements
  • Attend Pre-Membership Seminar (PMES) — every last Saturday of the month, 8:30-12:30 (PhP 200 in-person / PhP 300 online)
  • TIN ID or TIN No. (Photocopy of Form 1904)
  • 1 copy of 2x2 or 1x1 ID Picture
  • Birth Certificate (Photocopy)
  • Medical Certificate (if 55 years old and above)
  • Barangay Clearance or Certificate of permanent residency

Duties & Obligations
  • Patronize the services and programs of the cooperative
  • Pay loan amortizations and other fees on time to avoid fines/penalties
  • Submit required collateral paper when borrowing above share capital
  • Promote the good name of your cooperative
  • Cooperate in giving a helping hand to fellow members in need
  • All members must be industrious
  • Participate actively in cooperative endeavors, especially Assembly Meetings
  • Walk or drive to the office before due date to pay obligations
